Lymphatic Drainage Massage

The Lymphatic Drainage Massage is a particular system and a very gentle manual massage/bodywork that promotes the removal of bodily toxins and waste fluids, and it encourages a healthy immune system by improving the overall functioning of the lymphatic system.

The movements are accomplished following the ganglionic chains.
The Belgian method Leduc praticed by Federico Garcia is soft, relaxing
and pleasant.

By its action on all bodily liquids as well as by its reflex effects, the acquired results are numerous: The Lymphatic Drainiage Massage stimulates the immune system and the lymphatic circulation, it favours the regeneration of tissues and gives very good effects all over the nervous system.

The lymphatic system is a network of ducts parallel to the blood system.
All residues, toxins, bacteria, etc. that come from the blood and tissues that are not absorbed by the blood, drain into the lymphatic vessels. Throughout this collector system, there are small cleanse centers (glands) that destroy everything that is harmful to our body.

Once the lymphatic liquid is clear and regenerated, it returns to the blood system. Simply said, the lymphatic system consists of organs, ducts and glands. It has three functions:

• Immunologic (filters and cleanses bacteria, abnormal cells, etc.)
• Recovery (returns unused proteins to the blood)
• Fat Transporter (absorbed fats in the small intestine are carried to the blood)

The lymphatic system transports between 2 and 3 litres of lymph a day to assure the cells' building and nutrition.
The lymph is uncolored liquid and it flows ten times slower than blood.
When glands are obstructed, the lymphatic flow blocks or slows down.
It requires and external stimulus to prevent edemas (swellings) and
other complications.

Considerations for Massage/Bodywork

Before a massage/bodywork a shower or a hot bath is recommended.
This will allow not only to help muscles to relax in order to be prepared for
our bodywork but also to eliminate unnecesary products on the skin
(oils, perfumes).
Avoid wearing jewerly (necklaces, rings, earrings during our session)

If you plan to keep your underwear during the lymphatic drainage, be sure that they are not too tight or limitative because it could diminish your relaxation as well as the capacity of the masseur to work on the gluteal region and the back.
